Mitsubishi Electric Alarm Clock (Taiwan Treasure Series)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for hoarding.  That ‘whizzle-jig’ that’s used to tighten those ‘bob-nuts’ on that ‘thingamijig’ will come in handy one day.  Yes, yes, I know they stopped making those ‘thingamijigs’ sometime in the last century but my ‘whizzle-jig’ is primed and ready at the bottom of the drawer.  It will come in handy – won’t it?

Now despite my hoarding capabilities I have on numerous occasions whilst in Taiwan had to stop and admire how I have been out-trumped in the hoarding stakes by my host. Now it’s no place of mine to analyse why this hoarding takes place, suffice to say I’m suitably impressed to such an extent that I’m starting a ‘Taiwan Treasure’ series. Mark my words, you’ll see a variety of must-haves from yesteryear that you just wished you had.

Part 1 in the series is a Mitsubishi Electric Alarm Clock.  I’m probably showing my ignorance but ‘don’t Mitsubishi only make cars?’   Anyhow, this particular specimen features wood effect surround, Japanese characters on the face and an intriguing 50Hz/60Hz switch on the reverse.  The elephant is a later addition to enhance the aesthetics of the piece.

Further investigation reveals that in fact Mitsubishi make a variety of home products, but strangely no sign of the alarm clock so those hoping to buy will be sorely disappointed.  If you’re after a Photovoltaic Power Generation System though, you’re in luck.
